Sengoku

Sengoku stands tall and fair-skinned with a powerful build, distinguished by a long, braided goatee and a mustache, and he is frequently accompanied by his pet goat. A large afro hides under his cap, only revealed when the cap is knocked away during his transformations. Despite being elderly from his very first appearance, a year older than both Garp and Rayleigh, he showed almost no outward sign of aging before the timeskip, his hair never having grayed. He favors black-rimmed glasses and a gold-trimmed white admiral's uniform laden with medals, topped by a life-sized seagull perched on his cap. His enormous Marine coat hangs from his shoulders like a cape and bears the kanji for justice in blue across the back.

Proud, enlightened, and sharp-minded, Sengoku appeared outwardly devoted to the World Government and rarely questioned its commands until the Impel Down cover-up. He is well aware of the rot inside the organization, yet judges that little can be changed from below and so turns a blind eye. He refuses to excuse any criminal going free and bristles at failure, living by the creed of "Reigning Justice" that puts the law above all else, even when that drags him toward Absolute Justice. As time wore on his faith eroded, and after the war he raged at the Five Elders for ordering the second Level 6 escape buried to protect the Government's image, a choice that endangered nations and pushed him to leave the Marines.

Together with Garp, Sengoku is counted among the mightiest Marines ever to live and a true living legend, having guided the force through the Great Pirate Era up to Whitebeard's death. In his prime under Gol D. Roger, he already held the rank of Admiral and traded blows with figures like Whitebeard, Roger, and his old rival Shiki, earning the respect of the first two through their many duels. He and Garp brought Shiki down when the Golden Lion stormed Marineford, a fight that flattened half the city. His power comes from a Mythical Zoan, the Human-Human Fruit, Model: Buddha, which lets him shift into a colossal golden Buddha or a human-Buddha hybrid and is the root of his nickname; in this state a single cushioned punch caved in the execution platform, and a palm thrust can loose a golden shockwave that hurled much of the Blackbeard Pirates away. He also commands all three forms of Haki. Even at 79 and two years into retirement, he joined Fujitora and Tsuru to defeat Jack of the Beasts Pirates.
