Yamcha unleashes the Neo Wolf Fang Fist but Tien Shinhan proves too resilient. After deflecting a surprise Kamehameha and breaking Yamcha's leg, Tien wins the match with ruthless finality. Goku vows revenge for his fallen friend.
Yamcha launches the Neo Wolf Fang Fist with everything he has, managing to cut Tien's cheek and land dozens of kicks. But Tien absorbs the punishment by fortifying his stance, enduring the assault until Yamcha's momentum fades. From that point forward, Tien steadily takes control, proving that raw technique alone cannot overcome his superior power.
In a desperate gambit, Yamcha fires a Kamehameha, shocking everyone who did not know he had learned the technique. Tien simply deflects the blast back at him. When Yamcha leaps to avoid it, Tien appears behind him and delivers a devastating kick that sends Yamcha crashing to the ground, unconscious.
But the cruelty does not end there. With Yamcha already defeated, Tien deliberately lands on his leg and snaps it. Puar transforms into a flying carpet to rush Yamcha to the hospital, while Goku, furious at the unnecessary violence, promises to avenge his friend. The Turtle-Crane rivalry has drawn first blood.
The leg break is the defining moment. The match was already decided when Yamcha lost consciousness, making Tien's additional attack purely malicious. The sound of the impact and the reactions from the crowd, from Goku, and from Bulma all underscore how far Tien is willing to go under Shen's influence.
Yamcha's surprise Kamehameha is a highlight for the character, proving he has been studying Roshi's techniques alongside his own Wolf style. That Tien can simply deflect it with one hand, however, puts the power gap into sharp perspective. The restaurant confrontation afterward, where Roshi and Shen trade insults over dinner, adds both humor and tension to the bitter rivalry.
Yamcha's elimination in the first round establishes the Tien Shinhan Saga's willingness to sideline major characters for dramatic impact. His broken leg keeps him hospitalized for the remainder of the tournament, shifting his role to observer and emotional anchor.
This is the first time a Kamehameha is shown being deflected by an opponent, demonstrating that Tien's abilities extend beyond physical combat. Man-Wolf's grudge against Jackie Chun, teased at the episode's end, sets up Match 2 while giving the audience a brief respite from the Turtle-Crane hostilities.
