Goku and Yajirobe descend into a frozen labyrinth beneath Korin Tower to find the Ultra Divine Water. They battle an indestructible ice monster called Darkness while Piccolo enjoys his new kingdom above.
At King Castle, Piano forces the enslaved staff to prepare a grand feast for their new ruler on an impossibly tight deadline. King Piccolo settles comfortably into his stolen throne while the world outside crumbles under his rule.
Korin warns Goku that the Ultra Divine Water lies hidden deep within a treacherous icy labyrinth below the tower. Many have entered; none have returned alive. Goku enters a portal leading downward, and Yajirobe accidentally stumbles into the same passage while rummaging for food. Korin shouts a warning about a creature called Darkness before the portal closes behind them.
The labyrinth is a frozen nightmare of twisting tunnels and deadly drops. Goku and Yajirobe press forward together until they encounter Darkness itself: a massive, seemingly indestructible ice monster that shrugs off every attack, including a direct Kamehameha. Unable to damage the creature, they escape by sliding down a long spiraling path deeper into the cave system. Above, Suno watches Piccolo and Piano walk past from her hiding spot near an injured elder, her hand trembling near a discarded rifle. She resists the urge to shoot, knowing it would accomplish nothing. Elsewhere, Tien continues his lonely training to master the Evil Containment Wave. The episode ends with Goku and Yajirobe regaining their footing in a deeper chamber, unaware that Darkness has followed them and is preparing something far more insidious than brute force.
The ice labyrinth is unlike anything Goku has faced. Darkness cannot be punched, blasted, or cut. It is the first opponent in the saga that is truly immune to physical force, forcing Goku and Yajirobe to rely on evasion and endurance rather than combat skill.
Suno's moment of temptation at King Castle adds human-scale tension to the global catastrophe. Her restraint shows wisdom beyond her years, as attacking Piccolo would only result in her death. Tien's ongoing training in isolation reinforces the theme of individuals making desperate preparations against impossible odds.
This episode marks the beginning of Goku's most personal trial. The entire ice labyrinth sequence is exclusive to the anime, expanding the path to the Ultra Divine Water into a full gauntlet. Darkness is not just a physical obstacle; its name foreshadows the psychological attack it will launch in the next episode using illusions drawn from Goku's memories.
