King Piccolo declares Piccolo Day and targets West City for destruction. As the world panics, Tien Shinhan races to King Castle to confront the tyrant. The demon king spawns a new warrior, Drum, to stand in Tien's way.
With the world firmly in his grip, King Piccolo announces Piccolo Day, a terrifying decree in which he will randomly select one sector of the Earth to annihilate each year. His first target is Sector 29, which encompasses West City, the home of Bulma and her family. Panic sweeps through the city as citizens scramble to evacuate, and the sense of helplessness reaches every corner of the globe.
While Goku continues his journey toward Central City after surviving the Ultra Divine Water, Tien Shinhan pushes himself to the limit to reach King Castle before Piccolo can depart to destroy West City. At Kame House, a group of emboldened convicts attempts to raid the island, only to be swiftly dealt with by Yamcha and Launch. Tien arrives at the castle just in time, but before he can challenge the demon king directly, Piccolo births a grotesque new offspring named Drum to serve as his frontline defender.
Chi-Chi pleads with her father, the Ox-King, to do something about Piccolo, expressing her belief that Goku could defeat the monster. Meanwhile, Yajirobe attempts to ride the Flying Nimbus from Korin Tower but falls straight through, a humorous reminder that the cloud demands a pure heart.
Dr. Brief and Bikini frantically gather their pets to flee. Bulma contacts Tien to urge him onward, knowing her parents are directly in the line of fire. Tien's arrival at King Castle sets the stage for his confrontation, but Drum's sudden creation raises the stakes considerably.
This episode marks the beginning of the final confrontation with King Piccolo. It is the first time the demon king uses his ability to spawn warriors tactically in combat, creating Drum specifically to block Tien. The episode also serves as the last calm before Goku's dramatic return to the battlefield.
