Goku, fully recovered and fueled by rage, overwhelms Tambourine in their rematch and obliterates him with a Kamehameha. King Piccolo, sensing his son's death, decides to face Goku personally.
Master Roshi reflects on his memories of first meeting Goku and Krillin as his team flies toward the next Dragon Ball. Back at the prairie, Goku squares off against Tambourine for the second time. This fight is nothing like the first. Moving with speed that bewilders the demon, Goku unleashes a barrage of attacks that surpass even his performance against Tien Shinhan in the tournament.
Tambourine absorbs a savage beating before firing his most powerful mouth blast, which appears to incinerate Goku completely. Yajirobe starts eyeing the demon as a potential meal, but Goku reveals himself unharmed, having dodged the blast effortlessly. The revelation that Goku was not even fighting seriously sends Tambourine into a panic.
The demon tries to flee into the sky, but Goku launches himself upward with the Power Pole and charges a Kamehameha. The blast connects, and Tambourine is completely destroyed. King Piccolo feels the psychic shockwave of his son's death and decides that he will avenge Cymbal and Tambourine personally. He orders Pilaf to steer toward Goku's location. Meanwhile, Roshi's team discovers a Dragon Ball inside ice caves guarded by aggressive crows. As they retrieve it and head for the next signal, Pilaf's airship appears on Goku's radar, descending from above.
Goku's destruction of Tambourine is the cathartic release the saga has been building toward since Krillin's murder. The contrast between their first encounter, where Goku was starving and helpless, and this fight, where he dominates without breaking a sweat, showcases his growth through sheer willpower and a full stomach.
King Piccolo's decision to personally confront Goku escalates the conflict dramatically. No more sending expendable offspring; the demon king himself is coming. The episode ends on a masterful cliffhanger as Pilaf's airship looms overhead, carrying a threat far beyond anything Goku has faced.
This is the first time in the saga that Goku intentionally kills an opponent, marking a darker turn for his character. Tambourine's death satisfies the need for revenge but opens the door to a far more dangerous confrontation. With King Piccolo descending personally, Goku is about to learn that defeating the servant is nothing compared to facing the master.
