Goku needs just one minute to recharge his Super Saiyan 3 energy, so Vegeta volunteers to hold off Kid Buu alone. Transforming into Super Saiyan 2, the Saiyan Prince endures a savage beating, refusing to stay down even as his body fails him. His desperate stand becomes a race against the clock.
The battle between Super Saiyan 3 Goku and Kid Buu reaches a critical point. After exchanging Kamehameha waves and trading blows that reshape the landscape, Goku realizes he is burning through energy faster than he can sustain. He confides in Vegeta that he needs a single minute to gather enough power to destroy Buu once and for all.
Vegeta understands the stakes clearly. As a dead warrior, if Kid Buu kills him, he will not simply return to Other World. He will cease to exist entirely. Despite this, Vegeta declares that if he cannot survive one minute against Buu, then perhaps he deserves that fate. He ascends to Super Saiyan 2 and charges headlong into battle.
Vegeta unleashes everything in his arsenal. His Focus Flash, Big Bang Attack, and a relentless barrage of energy blasts slam into Kid Buu one after another. But the ancient destroyer regenerates from every assault without slowing down. Buu responds by pummeling Vegeta into the ground repeatedly, cratering the sacred landscape with each impact.
What astonishes even Kid Buu is that Vegeta keeps getting back up. Bloodied and broken, the Prince of all Saiyans rises again and again, fueled by nothing but willpower and the knowledge that every second he buys brings Goku closer to full power.
The punishment eventually takes its toll. Vegeta loses his Super Saiyan 2 transformation, reverting to his base form as his reserves completely empty. Kid Buu, recognizing that his opponent has nothing left, wraps his hand around Vegeta's throat and begins to squeeze. On the sidelines, Goku pushes desperately to complete his power restoration.
Across the universe, those watching through King Kai's telepathic link hold their breath. Vegeta's stand in episode 281 of Dragon Ball Z is not measured in power levels or technique. It is measured in the raw, stubborn courage of a warrior who chose to sacrifice everything for a single minute of time.
