With Kid Buu destroyed, the heroes return to the Lookout for an emotional reunion. Goku reveals he is alive again permanently and tells Chi-Chi he loves her. Vegeta reluctantly agrees to let Good Buu live with Mr. Satan. Six months later, Shenron erases the world's memory of Buu, and the reformed Majin adjusts to city life.
The universe breathes again. Gohan, Piccolo, Goten, and Trunks sense Kid Buu's demise, and Mr. Satan broadcasts the good news to every corner of Earth. Dende heals Goku and Vegeta on the Sacred World of the Kai, and then Kibito Kai transports everyone back to the Lookout where their loved ones are waiting.
The reunions are deeply emotional. Chi-Chi, Gohan, and Goten rush to embrace Goku. Bulma and Trunks welcome Vegeta home. When Goku announces that Old Kai's sacrifice restored his life permanently, Chi-Chi breaks down in tears at the thought of having her family together again. Goku holds her close and, for the first time on screen, tells her that he loves her.
When Bee discovers Good Buu's unconscious body, Mr. Satan begs for the Majin to be healed. Vegeta objects furiously, arguing that the fat Buu could produce another Evil Buu at any moment. Mr. Satan counters that none of the previous catastrophe would have happened if Buu's puppy had not been shot, and he pledges to take full responsibility for Buu's behavior on Earth.
Vegeta threatens violence, but Goku intervenes. He reminds Vegeta that Good Buu saved his life and Mr. Satan carried him to safety during the Spirit Bomb struggle. Without either of them, the universe would be gone. Vegeta relents with visible reluctance, and Goku proposes using the Dragon Balls to erase the public's memory of Majin Buu so no one will fear him.
Six months pass, and Shenron grants the wish to erase Buu from the world's collective memory. Now free to walk among people, Good Buu ventures into the city and immediately craves ice cream. After learning he needs money, he earns it the only way he knows how: by entering a street boxing challenge and knocking out a fighter named Pit Bull Pete with a single tap.
Buu's new life includes an outing with Bulma where he tries to eat diamonds at a jewelry store and inadvertently foils a robbery by the same boxer he defeated earlier. Meanwhile, at Mount Paozu, Goku plays with Goten and Trunks in a scene that dissolves into a lighthearted brawl with Gotenks. The episode closes with Vegeta standing alone by a tree, arms crossed, breaking the fourth wall with a blunt question to the viewer.
