An Alliance Born of Desperation

Gohan and Krillin race toward Grand Elder Guru's home, knowing the clock is ticking. Krillin warns Gohan that even with his latent power unlocked, he probably will not rival Vegeta, but he should be strong enough to buy time until Goku arrives. Aboard his ship, Goku finishes his training regime, returns the gravity to normal, and is quietly stunned by how far he has come. He takes a bath, grabs a sports drink from the fridge, and settles in for the final stretch of his voyage, unaware that he has surpassed every power level any Saiyan has ever reached.

On Namek, Vegeta intercepts the pair. Krillin stays behind to stall while Gohan pushes ahead to Guru's house. The Grand Elder places his hand on Gohan and releases the boy's hidden strength, sending a shockwave of energy across the landscape. Vegeta feels the surge instantly and rockets toward the source, convinced the final Dragon Ball must be there. He arrives to find Nail standing guard, and when Gohan steps outside, Vegeta is stunned; that power signature was not Goku at all, but a child.

Inside the house, Guru senses five fearsome energies approaching from space. Dende rushes outside with the warning, and Vegeta immediately identifies them as the Ginyu Force. Panic sets in. Vegeta, swallowing his pride, urges Gohan to hand over the last Dragon Ball. He promises no harm and reveals the stakes: the Ginyu Force will crush them all if they do not act immediately. When Nail reveals that the Namekian Dragon Balls grant three wishes rather than one, Krillin agrees to the alliance.

They retrieve the ball from Bulma, who is left bewildered and furious when she realizes Vegeta was with them. Across Namek, the Ginyu Force touches down in front of Frieza. They perform their signature poses, announce themselves one by one, and receive their orders: recover all seven Dragon Balls and bring Vegeta to heel.

Enemies Forced to Become Friends

The alliance between Vegeta, Krillin, and Gohan is one of the Namek Saga's defining moments. It is not built on trust or friendship; it is raw survival math. Vegeta knows he cannot defeat the Ginyu Force alone, and the Earthlings know they cannot survive without Vegeta's firepower. Nobody is happy about it, and that tension is precisely what makes it compelling.

Guru's power unlock for Gohan also sets a critical precedent. Where Krillin's boost was impressive, Gohan's potential is on a different scale entirely. The series is quietly building toward the idea that Gohan might be the most powerful being among them, even if he does not yet know how to access that strength consistently. It is groundwork that will pay off spectacularly in later sagas.

Enter the Ginyu Force

The Ginyu Force's landing on Namek is one of the most memorable introductions in Dragon Ball history. Five warriors performing choreographed poses in front of a visibly embarrassed Frieza is comedy gold, but beneath the absurdity lies genuine menace. Each member possesses abilities that individually outclass Vegeta, and together they represent the most dangerous fighting unit in Frieza's entire empire.

The revelation that Namekian Dragon Balls grant three wishes instead of one changes the entire strategic landscape. Suddenly there is room for multiple agendas; Vegeta's immortality and the Earthlings' goals do not have to be mutually exclusive. It is this detail that makes the alliance possible at all, and it will continue to shape the conflict going forward.
