Goku discovers Gohan is alive after checking in with King Yemma and teleports to the Sacred World of the Kai. Meanwhile, Piccolo and Krillin awkwardly demonstrate the Fusion Dance, and Majin Buu performs his first act of kindness by healing a blind boy named Tommy.
Flying through the Other World with Fortuneteller Baba, Goku notices the staggering number of souls Majin Buu has sent to the afterlife. At the Check-In Station, he asks King Yemma whether Gohan has checked in. When Yemma says no, Goku realizes Videl was right all along. His son is still alive.
Goku locks onto Gohan's energy signature but finds it originating from an unexpected location: the Sacred World of the Kai. He teleports there instantly and nearly gets clipped by Gohan swinging the Z Sword. Supreme Kai and Kibito are startled by his sudden arrival, but Goku decides to stay and help Gohan with his swordsmanship training.
At the Lookout, Piccolo tries to get the sleeping Goten and Trunks to resume their Fusion training. The boys bump heads and fall right back asleep before finally getting up for real. When Trunks asks to see the Fusion Dance demonstrated again, Piccolo reluctantly drags Krillin into performing the poses with him.
Krillin tries to slip away but finds no one else willing to volunteer. The two warriors end up going through the dance together, providing the boys with a refresher on the technique they must master to have any hope against Majin Buu.
Majin Buu encounters a blind boy named Tommy who shows no fear at all. Buu assumes the boy simply has his eyes closed, but Tommy explains he was born unable to see. Moved by curiosity, Buu uses his healing powers to restore the boy's sight.
Even after seeing Buu clearly, Tommy remains unafraid and calls him a wonderful person who must be beautiful on the inside. Flattered, Buu refuses the boy's golden coin and instead turns a passerby into a carton of milk for Tommy's breakfast. He flies away cheerfully declaring himself beautiful, only to obliterate another town moments later.
