Goku and Vegeta perform the Fusion Dance as Super Saiyan 4s, creating the overwhelmingly powerful Gogeta. He toys with Omega Shenron, purges the Earth's negative energy, and nearly destroys the dragon with his Big Bang Kamehameha. But the fusion ends far sooner than expected, leaving the fight unfinished.
With two Super Saiyan 4 warriors still unable to overpower Omega Shenron, Goku and Vegeta prepare the Fusion Dance. Omega charges in to interrupt, but Gohan, Trunks, and Goten throw themselves into the dragon's path to buy their fathers the time they need. Vegeta urges Goku to hurry, but Goku watches with quiet pride as the next generation fights together.
The three sons are eventually overwhelmed, and Goku and Vegeta complete the dance, merging into Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta. The fusion warrior radiates such immense power that Omega Shenron, for all his bluster, cannot land a single blow. Gogeta does not even break a sweat.
Gogeta spends much of the battle toying with Omega Shenron, cracking jokes and dodging effortlessly. His real purpose is to wait for Omega to charge his Negative Karma Ball. When the dragon unleashes it, Gogeta channels his own positive energy through the sphere, converting the negative charge and freeing the Earth from the dark barrier that had surrounded it.
With the planet cleansed, Gogeta fires his signature Big Bang Kamehameha, a devastating combination of Goku's and Vegeta's strongest techniques. The blast obliterates Omega Shenron and forces the Dragon Balls out of his body. The dragon manages to regenerate, but he is visibly weakened and near defeat.
Gogeta charges a second Big Bang Kamehameha to finish Omega Shenron once and for all. But at the critical moment, the fusion abruptly ends. Goku and Vegeta separate, bewildered. The fusion lasted roughly fifteen minutes instead of the standard thirty. Goku theorizes that the immense power of two combined Super Saiyan 4s burned through the time limit far faster than normal.
Omega Shenron rejoices at the Saiyans' failure and scrambles to reclaim the Dragon Balls. Goku intercepts the Four-Star Ball, keeping it for its sentimental connection to Grandpa Gohan. Vegeta remains defiant, but without fusion, the two are once again outmatched. The dragon will not give up until every ball is back in his possession.
