Rescue Goku

Goku does not notice the Four-Star Dragon Ball on his forehead until Pan tells him to feel it. Omega Shenron moves in to kill Goku and retrieve the ball, but it begins glowing and floats between them. Nuova Shenron materializes from the sphere, alive once more. Goku is overjoyed, but Nuova acts cold and distant, speaking with Omega and appearing eager to destroy Goku.

Vegeta attacks Nuova, but the fire dragon is too fast and blasts him away. Nuova then engages Goku directly, and the Saiyan cannot land a hit. But Vegeta, watching carefully, notices that Nuova's attacks were not truly aimed to hurt either of them. His suspicions are confirmed when Omega orders Nuova to finish Goku off, and the two former enemies attack Omega together instead.

Omega Shenron is stunned by the betrayal. He reveals that Nuova should have been charged with full negative energy, but Goku's act of swallowing the Four-Star Ball passed some of his positive energy into Nuova when the dragon reformed. Nuova binds Omega and traps both of them inside a massive fireball, intending to destroy them together in a mutual sacrifice.

The fireball explodes, and Nuova emerges alone. For a moment, it appears that Omega Shenron has been eliminated. Then Nuova's body begins to crack and break apart. Omega bursts free, revealing that he forced six Dragon Balls into Nuova's body and moved himself inside, destroying the fire dragon from within.

With Nuova destroyed for the second and final time, Omega Shenron reclaims all seven Dragon Balls. His full power is restored, and the terrible aura of negative energy radiates outward once more. Vegeta tries to power up for another assault, but his body gives out and he reverts to his normal form, completely drained.

Goku and Vegeta now stand before Omega Shenron without transformations, without fusion, and without options. Both Saiyans are at the dragon's mercy. The loss of Nuova, the only Shadow Dragon who fought with honor, leaves a bitter sting. Episode 62 closes on a note of seemingly hopeless despair as the strongest foe in the series stands triumphant.
