Two Saiyans, One Battlefield

Goku requests that they move the fight away from his fallen friends' bodies, and Vegeta agrees. They relocate to the Gizard Wasteland, a barren landscape far from civilization. Vegeta taunts Goku about his low-class birth and the reason he was sent away from Planet Vegeta as an infant. Goku counters that he is grateful for being raised on Earth and declares that a low-level warrior can surpass an elite with enough training.

The two Saiyans engage in what appears to be an even fight until Vegeta begins landing cleaner blows. Goku senses that his opponent may genuinely be stronger and briefly activates Kaio-ken times two. The power boost allows him to topple Vegeta, who recovers quickly and dismisses the technique as something he has seen before.

At Kame House, Fortuneteller Baba struggles to produce an image on her crystal ball due to the energy disrupting Earth's atmosphere. Bulma uses Raditz's scouter and detects two enormous power levels in the west. Elsewhere, Launch sits in a bar, drunk and grieving, as news reports describe the devastation. Vegeta powers up with terrifying intensity, causing the earth to shake, rocks to float, and pillars of stone to crumble. Surrounded by a sphere of glowing energy, Vegeta dominates Goku and destroys his shirt with a Shine Shot. Left with no other choice, Goku decides to push the Kaio-ken to times three, a level King Kai explicitly warned him never to attempt.

Pushed Beyond the Limit

Goku and Vegeta relocate to the Gizard Wasteland for their one-on-one battle. Kaio-ken times two briefly gives Goku the edge, but Vegeta recovers and unleashes a terrifying power-up that shakes the planet itself. Rocks float, storms gather, and the sheer force of his energy disrupts Fortuneteller Baba's crystal ball at Kame House.

Vegeta's fully powered state overwhelms Goku, destroying his shirt and battering him across the wasteland. Desperate, Goku prepares to use Kaio-ken times three despite King Kai's warning that anything beyond times two could destroy his body from the inside.

Low Class vs. Elite

The Goku versus Vegeta rivalry begins here in earnest, with the clash between a low-class Saiyan raised on Earth and the prince of the warrior race. This episode also marks Launch's final significant appearance until the Kid Buu Saga, as she grieves for Tien from a barstool while the world trembles around her.
