Babidi's Global Threat

Babidi taps into his telepathic abilities and projects a message directly into the minds of every person on Earth simultaneously. The wizard's voice resonates inside billions of skulls at once, declaring Piccolo, Goten, and Trunks to be wanted criminals. He demands that the populace surrender them immediately or face total annihilation. To demonstrate the consequences of refusal, Babidi orders Majin Buu to transform an entire city's population into candy before consuming them all in a single grotesque feast. The display is broadcast telepathically to every witness on the planet, and the resulting wave of terror sends civilization into complete disarray. People turn on each other in panic, and any hope of organized resistance crumbles.

The Z Sword Awaits

Far removed from the chaos engulfing Earth, Gohan has been brought to the Sacred World of the Kai by Kibito. Revived from the brink of death and slowly recovering his strength, Gohan receives a unique challenge from Supreme Kai. Embedded in a rocky peak on the sacred planet sits the Z Sword, a legendary weapon of immense power that no Kai in all of recorded history has ever managed to extract. Countless generations of divine beings have attempted to pull the blade free and failed. If Gohan can succeed where every Kai before him could not, he may gain the power needed to face Majin Buu on equal footing and turn the tide of this desperate war.

Gohan Accepts the Challenge

The Z Sword has remained lodged in its stone prison for countless generations, unmoved by the efforts of every Supreme Kai who attempted to claim it. The current Supreme Kai explains the weapon's storied history to Gohan, emphasizing that its power is supposedly beyond anything in the mortal realm. Gohan approaches the craggy peak with determination and grasps the hilt firmly, straining with every ounce of strength in his base form. The blade refuses to budge even slightly. Sweat pours down his face as he pulls harder, and the rock around the sword shows no signs of cracking. This is clearly not a task that can be accomplished through ordinary effort, and Gohan begins to understand why generations of divine beings failed before him.

A Resolve Born From Loss

Back at the Lookout, Goten and Trunks awaken from the unconsciousness forced on them by Vegeta before his final sacrifice. The boys are disoriented and confused, with no memory of why they were knocked out or what happened afterward. When Piccolo and the others explain that both Gohan and Vegeta have perished in the battle against Majin Buu, the shock hits the young Saiyans like a physical blow. But grief quickly transforms into fierce, burning determination. The two boys vow to master the Fusion technique and destroy Majin Buu with their own hands, carrying forward the will of their fallen comrades into the battles that lie ahead.
