Goku arrives at the Lookout and reveals a secret technique called Fusion, learned from the Metamorans in Other World. With Goten and Trunks as the ideal candidates, a new plan to defeat Majin Buu takes shape.
While Majin Buu rampages across the planet, leveling entire cities without resistance and leaving nothing but smoking craters in his wake, Bulma organizes a desperate mission to collect the Dragon Balls. Her plan is to use Shenron to resurrect the spectators that Vegeta killed at the World Martial Arts Tournament, preserving the wish for those who can still be saved. After locating six of the seven spheres through a globe-spanning search, the group discovers the final ball is guarded by a ferocious monster on a remote island in the middle of an isolated lake. The creature is territorial and violent, but through teamwork, persistence, and no small amount of danger, they manage to wrestle the Dragon Ball away and complete the set.
High above the chaos of the surface world, Piccolo and Krillin struggle to formulate any plan that could realistically work against a being as powerful as Majin Buu. Every strategy they consider falls apart when measured against Buu's instantaneous regeneration and overwhelming strength. Direct combat is suicide. Trickery seems pointless against a creature that can rebuild itself from fragments. The situation feels completely hopeless, and both warriors are running out of ideas. Then an unexpected arrival changes the entire equation.
Goku reaches the Lookout, battered and bruised from his fight with Vegeta but quickly restored to fighting condition by Dende's miraculous healing hands. He wastes no time laying out a radical and untested strategy for the assembled fighters. During his years of intensive training in Other World, Goku encountered a peculiar race of beings called the Metamorans and learned their signature technique: the Fusion Dance. By merging two fighters of precisely equal power into a single, vastly more powerful warrior, the Fusion technique could theoretically produce a being capable of challenging Majin Buu head-on. It is a long shot, but given their current options, it is the only shot they have.
The Fusion technique demands two participants with closely matched power levels, similar body types, and comparable ki control. Goku quickly identifies Goten and Trunks as the ideal candidates for the technique. Both are half-Saiyan prodigies of nearly identical age, physical build, and raw fighting strength. If they can master the notoriously difficult Fusion Dance in time, the resulting merged warrior could possess raw power on a level needed to genuinely challenge the seemingly invincible Majin. But the training must begin immediately and proceed without interruption, because Buu is not going to wait patiently while Earth's last hope learns to dance.
