After Fused Zamasu is cut down, his essence spreads across the sky as an incorporeal force threatening all of existence. With no other options, Goku summons Future Zeno, who erases the entire future timeline to stop the threat permanently.
Fused Zamasu's defeat proves to be anything but final. Rather than perishing, the corrupt god sheds his physical body and spreads across the sky as a formless entity, his face appearing in silhouette across the heavens. Goku, Vegeta, and Future Trunks attempt a combined assault, firing Kamehameha, Final Flash, and Galick Gun together, but their attacks have no effect on something that has transcended physical form. Zamasu's malevolent energy begins consuming the Earth and spreading throughout the multiverse, and his many faces rain destruction from above.
The situation turns desperate when the survivors realize every civilian on the planet has been killed. Future Mai collapses in grief, and even the mighty Saiyans are powerless. Goku discovers the button Zeno gave him and summons Future Zeno, who surveys the corrupted world and decides to erase everything, including Zamasu, along with the entire future universe. The group barely escapes in the time machine before the erasure is complete.
Goku retrieves Future Zeno from the now empty void and brings him to the present, where the two Zenos finally meet and become friends. Meanwhile, Whis devises a plan for Future Trunks and Future Mai to live in an earlier point of their timeline, where another version of them already exists. After heartfelt goodbyes with everyone, including a touching moment between Gohan and Future Trunks, the two travelers depart for their new home.
This episode masterfully balances cosmic-scale stakes with deeply personal emotional beats. The farewell sequence ranks among the most poignant moments in the franchise, particularly the exchange between Gohan and Future Trunks that calls back to their mentor-student relationship in the alternate timeline. Vegeta's silent approval of his son's growth, delivered through a surprise attack that Trunks effortlessly blocks, speaks volumes without a single word of praise.
The introduction of Future Zeno as the ultimate solution raises fascinating questions about divine authority. Zeno's willingness to erase an entire multiverse to solve a single problem underscores why even the Gods of Destruction fear him. It also establishes the dual-Zeno dynamic that becomes central to the upcoming saga.
This episode wraps the longest and most narratively ambitious saga of Dragon Ball Super to this point. The revelation that Whis is the Grand Minister's son is casually dropped during the farewell dinner, a detail that gains enormous significance in later arcs. The creation of yet another split timeline, this time by Beerus himself, adds a fifth Time Ring to Universe 10's collection and deepens the series' exploration of temporal consequences.
Future Trunks and Future Mai make their final appearance in the anime here, their story concluding with a hopeful but unusual resolution: learning to share a world with alternate versions of themselves.
