Empty Planet

EpisodeEp. 256

Super Buu arrives at the Lookout demanding his promised fight. When Piccolo stalls for time, Buu unleashes a single devastating attack that wipes out nearly every living person on Earth. Piccolo negotiates one hour to prepare Gotenks and sends the boys into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for emergency training.

The Challenger Arrives

Super Buu touches down on the Lookout and immediately demands to face the fighter he was promised. Piccolo, knowing Goten and Trunks are nowhere near ready, desperately tries to buy time. He reminds Buu that the original agreement was for two days and one day still remains.

Super Buu has no patience for negotiations. While the monster glares at the gathered fighters, Piccolo quietly instructs Krillin to wake the boys and rush them to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for emergency training. Chi-Chi attempts to attack Super Buu with a broom, blaming him for Gohan's supposed death, but Piccolo restrains her before Buu can respond.

Humanity Erased

Piccolo makes a calculated gamble, suggesting that Buu amuse himself by wiping out the remaining Earthlings while waiting. Buu takes the suggestion literally and launches countless energy blasts from his body that streak across the globe, hunting down and killing nearly every human on the planet in seconds. Only a handful of survivors remain: those on the Lookout, Tien and Chiaotzu (who dodge the blasts), and a few others sheltered beneath the Lookout.

On the Sacred World of the Kai, Goku learns from Supreme Kai that Buu has exterminated Earth's population. The stakes have never been higher.

Buying Precious Time

Piccolo promises Super Buu that Gotenks will be ready in one hour. Buu has no concept of what an hour means, so Piccolo conjures an hourglass and tells him to wait until the sand runs out. At first, Buu refuses to comply. Videl taunts him, asking if he is actually scared of the challenger. Before Buu can strike her down, Piccolo reveals that she is Mr. Satan's daughter.

The connection to his former friend gives Buu pause, and he grudgingly agrees to wait. Inside the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Goten and Trunks have precious hours of dilated time to push their fusion abilities to the absolute limit before the sand runs out.
