Hit engages Jiren in a solo battle, deploying his full arsenal of time-manipulation techniques including the devastating Time Prison. Despite his strategic brilliance, Hit is ultimately overpowered and eliminated, marking the tournament's halfway point.
After secretly restoring some of Goku's energy as repayment for their encounter on Namek, Frieza departs, leaving Goku to recover on the sidelines. The spotlight shifts to Hit, who confronts Jiren directly. Despite repeatedly using Time-Skip, Hit finds that Jiren can respond to his speed effortlessly. The Pride Trooper reads through every variation of the technique, forcing Hit to adapt his strategy in real time.
Hit absorbs Jiren's attacks to memorize their timing, then unleashes his combination of Time Release blasts from two directions, striking the same point on Jiren's chest. The impact pushes Jiren toward the edge of the ring, where Hit traps him in a Time Prison, completely freezing his movements. Hit instructs his Universe 6 teammates to focus on eliminating other fighters while he keeps Jiren contained. Vados reveals that Hit's plan is to hold Jiren at bay until time expires, sacrificing himself as a living restraint.
However, Jiren's power proves too immense even for the Time Prison to contain. He begins powering through the frozen time, and Hit, recognizing that his technique will not hold, gambles everything on a single devastating strike. Jiren blocks it with his Glare technique, shatters the Time Prison entirely, and eliminates Hit with a Power Impact that sends him crashing off the stage. The Grand Minister announces that half of the 100 taks have passed, and a green tint washes over the arena to mark the tournament's midpoint. Jiren, having dealt with both warriors he deemed worth fighting, returns to his meditation.
Hit's battle with Jiren is one of the most tactically sophisticated fights in the tournament. Unlike Goku, who escalated through raw power, Hit approaches the matchup as a puzzle. Every move is calculated: absorbing damage to study Jiren's rhythm, attacking the same point from opposing angles, and deploying the Time Prison as containment rather than a finishing blow.
What makes Hit's elimination so impactful is his acceptance of his role. He describes his objective as a "job," framing sacrifice in professional terms. Champa's quiet acknowledgment that Hit "did a great job" carries far more weight than any dramatic speech could.
The Grand Minister's announcement that half the time has elapsed serves as both a narrative and structural milestone. The green atmospheric shift visually distinguishes the second half. Jiren's decision to meditate after eliminating Goku and Hit sends a clear message: only worthy opponents will draw him back into combat.
With 24 minutes remaining, the surviving fighters are all formidable. Several subplots advance in the background as Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta, and Frieza each pursue their own battles.
