Dragon Ball Films
Mitsuo Hashimoto directed Dragon Ball Z theatrical films including Lord Slug, Cooler's Revenge, and Wrath of the Dragon, as well as the original Dragon Ball films Curse of the Blood Rubies, Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle, and The Tree of Might. Before his work on Dragon Ball features, he served as assistant director on Dr. Slump and Arale-chan adaptations. His directorial work brought cinematic scope and action choreography to Dragon Ball's battle sequences, establishing a distinct visual language for theatrical Dragon Ball productions that differed from the TV series format.
Career and Other Directions
Hashimoto worked under contract with Toei Animation and occasionally used the pseudonym Genjuro Tachibana for projects outside Toei. Beyond Dragon Ball, he has directed anime including Beyblade, Bakugan, Chobits, Galaxy Angel, and various other series. In later years, he transitioned to independent anime direction.
